Self-Defense from the Samurai

Iaijutsu (also sometimes called Iaido) means "the method of sword drawing".

Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu-Iaijutsu (MJER) is known as the most widely practiced style of Japanese sword art. It is also one of the oldest living forms of Japanese martial arts, dating back 450 years. and is headed by the 21st Soke, Komei Sekiguchi Sensei.

Like any good martial art, MJER focuses on the harmony of the mind, body, and spirit. Showing respect is always an important aspect of training, as is the philosophy that violence is only a last resort.

Training begins with the 7 basic stances and attacks. It progresses on to sets of Waza (techniques) involving formal demonstration, paired practice, practical application, and a flowing combination.
