Cary's Premier Martial Arts School
UMAA of Cary is located at 250 Nottingham Drive in the Buck Jones Shopping Center. We are situated between Kabuki Japanese Steak House and Olive Tree Market, in the same center as Jelly Beans Skating.
UMAA of Cary opened in July, 1998. The school operated out of 3 local health clubs offering classes 5 days per week for children and adults. During this time, Mr. Letourneau also taught Karate classes at local day care centers and private schools in the Cary / Morrisville area.
Today, UMAA of Cary operates full time, and offers classes for all ages in various arts (Karate, Jujitsu, Aikido, Iaido and Judo) 5 days a week, as well as private lessons and day time classes. The dojo operates from 10am – 8:30pm and has a full time dedicated staff.
The dojo is 4,000 sq/ft and has 2 full bathrooms (handicap accessible), changing rooms, cardio/weight training area for students and parents, and a student kitchen area. The main training floor is 1,780 square feet and is installed with high impact laminate flooring that is designed to provide a sound environment for performing kata, using weapons and for daily rigors of the martial arts program, while minimizing the negative impact to the lower back, knees and ankles. The self defense area is 450 sq/ft and is designed to instantly provide a safe and soft landing environment for sweeps, take downs and throws.
There is a dedicated area for parents to watch the students train, and for waiting siblings to color, do homework and or to otherwise entertain themselves until the classes are over. WiFi & Coffee/Tea service is offered to parents, students and guests at no additional fee.
The dojo is open Monday through Thursday 10:00am to 8:30pm and Saturday 9:00am to 1:30pm. All programs taught at the dojo are lead by professional, master level adult instructors in their respective arts.
