Karate

Self Defense Skill Focused

The style of Karate taught at United Martial Arts Academy is American Freestyle Karate (AFK), which incorporates techniques from multiple countries and styles. AFK was developed with the philosophy of keeping the best and to diversify a student’s martial arts knowledge.

Teachings from a variety of disciplines and arts helped Mr. Letourneau to develop his own training by earning Black Belts in Karate and Jujutsu. This way of training has also led him to pursue training in Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu-Iaijutsu (MJER), Tuite & Kyuoshu Jitsu, and Judo. Many of the Black Belt students at United Martial Arts Academy follow this example and cross-train in more than one martial art.

Little Samurai Classes are for children 3 – 5 years old

30 minute classes • 3 days/week

This is a preschool class for children who have not yet started Kindergarten. We focus on developing pre-K children in all of the key areas that public and private schools require before enrollment. We do this in a way that is fun and engaging to pre-K children. Parents are encouraged to stay and observe all of the classes. This will allow you to see the skill sets your child is working on, and give you an idea of what you can work on at home with your child.

Beginner & Advanced Youth Karate Classes are offered 5 days/week for children 5 – 12 years old.

For children who are age 5 and older, and/or who have already started Kindergarten, the beginner youth classes are a perfect introduction to Martial Arts. Our beginner youth karate curriculum is age specific and will only have other beginner youth kids in the class. This experience will provide your child a low impact and stress free environment that he/she needs at this level, while making it fun and exciting.

We will build their confidence and self-esteem, and give them the tools to be successful. Our instructors teach because they love to teach and want to work with your children. Each class is a great workout for your child and will be a positive learning experience.

Teen and Adult Karate Classes are offered 5 days/week for students 13 and older.

Teens and Adults are taking up martial arts, and are doing so in huge numbers. Adults from 16 to 70 are discovering that Karate offers them something unique, a new variation of low impact exercise that can help with increasing balance, stamina, strength, and awareness. At United Martial Arts Academy, we are seeing adult classes that are triple the size of the previous years. In particular, teens and women feel that they have taken control of their own lives and Karate provides them with a new source of self confidence

Teen and Adult students enjoy the benefit of having a professional black belt instructor guide each workout. They know they will get a workout, but they also appreciate the welcoming, non-competitive atmosphere of the classes.

Lastly, preference for an indoor, year-round training facility is something that is very important to our members. They always have the opportunity to train with other adults with common goals. These are just a few reasons why they came and chose to stay with United Martial Arts Academy.
